What's up with that name?

Did the parents really think that "If we get a girl, who has a lot of night life and has xxx all over her, we shall call her Amsterdam. And if we get a kid with split personalities we will call him/her Nicosia. And if she looks all the time like she is ruled by a overweight man who is not willing to go away, we will call her Tallinn. And if she looks like there is a Eiffel tower inside her all the time, we will call her Paris"

Makes you wonder, huh?!
